Now For A Finishing Touch, The Drizzle
By Corey Nelson
Almost all restaurants have one dish where they drizzle a sauce on whether it's cheese sauce on a sandwich to chocolate or caramel sauce on a cupcake. Customers love watching this plating technique in action so show it to them on your social media. You can use social media like you use table-side service to interact with your guests and engage them more beyond your four walls. Filming a video is a lot easier than it looks: here’s some video basics and a pro tip to get you started!
Set Your Station
Format: This is a 5-6 second vertical video showcasing a special sauce being drizzled onto a dish. It should be posted to Facebook, Instagram, and Tik Tok.
Location: Lighting for this shot is integral for the final video. If possible, shoot in natural light. But if you are shooting in the kitchen, film in the most well lit area.
Cleanliness: Before you start filming, how clean is your station? Remember you are showing your kitchen/restaurant to the world. Rim of the plate wiped? Hand and fingernails looking fresh? Is that cutting board clean? Small things like this go a long way!
Positioning: Position the camera on the side of the plate opposite the dominant hand of the person plating. This way we see the bottle and the sauce, not the backside of their arm. We recommend a 45 degree angle and six inches to one foot of distance from camera to plate for most drizzle shots, however, play around a little to see how your particular shot looks best. Remember to click on the screen to focus on the ingredient before you start filming.
Sound: No sound capture is preferred on this clip, either record with no sound or mute the sound before uploading.
Here are some pictures to give you an idea of positioning and framing for this shot:

Pro Tip: Music always make The Drizzle Videos really pop, pick something that sets the mood and that fits the style and vibe of your brand.
Hopefully these tips can set you on your way as you continue to create more content to connect with your audience. Remember people love to see that behind the scenes look that allows them to feel like they are right there in the kitchen with you. As you keep making content, remember to focus more time on capturing the raw and real moments you face on a day-to-day basis and less time on creating that perfect piece of content. Now go and post your Drizzle video to Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, and tag us @bestservedpodcast. We’ll amplify it.
