Bubbling Sounds In Your Kitchen Evoke ASMR
By Corey Nelson
Sound is so important but it is usually overlooked for vision based content. The ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response) community has exploded on Tik Tok and YouTube over the past few years. Non-content creators might be nervous to take ASMR on but it's actually not as scary as it looks. While ASMR people are creating sounds to record, you are capturing sounds that already exist in the kitchen. Customers love to see behind the curtain and this is one of the best ways to show them what you’re really up to. Filming an ASMR video is a lot easier than it looks: here’s some video basics and a pro tip to get this video made today.
Set Your Station
Format: This is a 6-8 second vertical video showcasing the ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response), when something is dropped into the fryer or that pot with liquids at a boil, capturing the sound of the bubbling, gurgling, babbling that ensues. Even just that moment when you have pasta water at a rolling boil and you drop a handful of salt into it and it goes wild. It should be posted to Facebook, Instagram Reels and Tik Tok.
Location: Lighting and sound are very important for this video. Pick the most well lit area in the kitchen to film in. Capturing the sound of the sizzle, crackle and pop is crucial for this video so if at all possible turn off any loud noises while filming.
Cleanliness: Before you start filming, how clean is your station? Remember you are showing your kitchen/restaurant to the world. How clean is the fryer? Is that fresh oil? Small things like this go a long way!
Positioning: Filming a video of the ASMR works best when you are anywhere from six inches to one foot away, often with the camera at an overhead angle. The moment that your food element hits your liquid is everything so be aware of exactly how and where that will happen. Remember to click on the screen to focus on the area where the Bubble will occur, before you start filming.
Presentation: For this video showcase the behind the scenes, raw and real nature of cooking and preparations of the dish and the sounds that accompany them.
Sound: Since we want to highlight the sound in this clip, do your best to create a quiet environment before filming.

Pro Tip: Use an external microphone or a microphone attachment for your phone and overlay that over top of the video for an enhanced ASMR!
Now that you have some helpful tips you can get started on your content journey. Social media has shifted from perfect curated content to more behind the scenes, raw and real content that lets your audience make a more human connection with you. If you are having issues creating content, don’t worry, focus on a capture mindset and just get that content out there!. Now go and post your Bubble video to Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, and tag us @bestservedpodcast. We’ll amplify it.
