As my wife and I embark on this new journey with our baby, we thought about what name to give him. Some will say, why is it such a problem? Your child's name is so important, especially in this day and age. You never think about the name that you give your child; will this be a hindrance or a reason that they got their job? Me being an African American male, I know Terrel, says black without question. Therefore, we decided for our son to be named Noah. You won't be able to look at his name and assume. With that in mind, if he is qualified, his name won't be the reason he doesn't get the job.
Don't get me wrong, I am extremely proud of the name that my parents gave to me. I just realize that in this day and age, the rest of the United States, hasn't quite caught up with the times. That shouldn't be the case, but it is something to think about when having children. Will their name, make or break, as it pertains to getting a job.
