When You Get Dunked On

We all know the stresses of work. When you’re in the weeds, bread is down, and you just got double sat, all because your section partner isn't moving as fast as you. You’re so focused on what you have written down on your notepad, that you aren't paying attention to what is around you.
All of a sudden, there is dead silence, you look up and now you’re greeted by a white shirt in your face, with the whole crew laughing, saying, “you got dunked on!”.
This was our stress relief at a restaurant I worked at in the mid 2000s. A game we created with a few simple rules:If you had nothing in your hands, you were fair game. Hands full, you were off limits.
Picture a crew of employees, where a good portion of us played sports, especially basketball. How we played the game was simple, we would catch a co-worker under any ledge and as the dunker you either had to have a napkin or balled up piece of paper in your hand, or you could catch an ally-pop from a co-worker. The taller the co-worker you dunked on or the higher degree of difficulty, the more impressive the ooo's and aaa's would be. The ledge was maybe about 7 to 8 feet high.
This game was more impressive when we actually got some of our non-athletic co-workers and even a manager or two to play along. This was a joy when you knew that many of us were in the same area and we would target someone on purpose.
We made videos which circulated between the crew. The best one yet, outside of dunking on someone on my off day when they weren't paying attention, was when I got dunked on with assistance by a co-worker who was maybe 5'2 or 5'3 at best.Whatever worked to keep the mood at the job light, and whatever could bring a laugh if not for a minute; That is one of the best times I had in my service industry career.
We have to remember we are in these buildings and around these people sometimes more than we’re around our own family.
Let us remember to laugh and have a good time.
